PAPER RABBITS

Paper Rabbits is a dance-theatre collective based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. While blending elements of contemporary dance, dramaturgy and surrealism, the collective strives to create works that connect audiences to global and universal experiences. Co-founded by Elle Derkitt, Nathan Coburn and Sophia Makarenko, the Paper Rabbits team works regularly with guest artists, outside mentorships and interdisciplinary artistic collaborators. Offering distinct perspectives that are underrepresented, we are determined to redefine how dance is perceived.

Since being founded in early 2024, the collective has been awarded the Youth Neighbourhood Small Grant by the Vancouver Foundation twice, which was used to self produce two shows in 2024 and 2025 both at the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House. This opportunity allowed the team to create and premiere their first collective work, PROM NITE. PROM NITE is a dance-theatre piece exploring themes of coming of age, love, non-linear storytelling, and complex character dynamics.

Paper Rabbits has also had the pleasure of participating in the 2025 New Works Mentorship Cohort under the mentorship of Jason Dubios. More recently, the collective performed PROM NITE (epilogue) at Belle Spirale's 2025 Dance Deck under the guidance and mentorship of Alexis Fletcher and Sylvain Senez.
